Medication Evaluation & Management
Comprehensive Choices
At INSIGHT, we understand that in some cases, medications can be helpful, and at times, necessary, on your journey toward wellness. Sometimes there are circumstances where a short course of medication may be desired to reduce symptom severity during a time of transition or life adjustment. Other times, medication may be beneficial for long-term management of symptoms and overall functioning.
We respect each client’s individual needs and choices. We understand that each client’s body and brain is unique to them. All Medication Management clients require a comprehensive initial consultation by one of our psychiatrists.
Follow-up frequency is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Whether you’re looking for a psychiatrist to continue existing treatment, have been referred by one of our therapists or outside providers, or are wondering if medication is right for you, we will work with you to find a treatment regimen that works for you.
In cases where medication is warranted, we offer evidence-based pharmaceutical treatment. We also routinely employ alternative treatments, where appropriate. Whether your preference is for traditional allopathic medication management, or you’re seeking to reduce your current pharmaceutical regimen and/or explore alternative/wholistic treatments, we are open to discussion and carefully weigh the risks vs. benefits for all situations.
Formal Second Opinions and Case Consultations for Families or Providers are available. Please note, medications will not be prescribed for anyone that is not under direct care of our psychiatrists.
Tapering
It is important to consult with a physician prior to stopping any medication. In some cases, clients wish to reduce or wean off of their current medication. At INSIGHT, our tapering schedules keep safety as a number one priority.
Abruptly stopping medications can result in withdrawal symptoms that can be uncomfortable for the client and in some cases, life threatening. Tapering schedules, when appropriate, will be evaluated and adjusted throughout the weaning process.
